OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A familiar face is set to return to Omaha for a fifth season of college basketball, pending a court case against the NCAA.
Fredrick King Jr. confirmed on Instagram that he will return to Creighton, where he started his career, this season. It coincides with the program’s first year under head coach Alan Huss following the retirement of Greg McDermott.
The former Bluejay spent last year at Murray State, where he earned First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors and was the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
He averaged 13.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game on 64.8% shooting in his one season with the Racers. It was a breakout campaign after averaging 2.9 points and two rebounds across three seasons off the bench for Creighton.
King Jr. is one of 10 college basketball players involved in a temporary injunction case against the NCAA. It was filed on Aug. 13 in Louisville, Kentucky, with the plaintiffs seeking a fifth season of eligibility.
His status for the 2026-27 season depends on the ruling in Mitchell v. NCAA, a case led by former Missouri forward Mark Mitchell in which King Jr. is a core plaintiff.
