The WNBA and Indiana Fever continue to make headlines following previous comments from Sophie Cunningham regarding trans athletes competing in the sport.

The Fever secured a 95-91 victory against the Atlanta Dream recently, but the on-court action was far from the main talking point of the day.

Instead, the post-game talk has centred around a mother and daughter who attended the match being instructed by arena security to cover up their XX-XY Athletics t-shirts.

The WNBA released a statement on the incident shortly afterwards, in which they said ‘This should not have happened’.

Now, the mother and daughter who were involved in the incident have spoken to Fox.

WNBA fans who were told to cover up XX-XY T-shirts speak out

Mother Kasey Thomason told the outlet: “Common sense people, that’s all we’re asking for.”

Meanwhile, daughter Annie Thomason was asked if she feels better after the statement from the WNBA was released, with the interviewer saying, ‘Presumably, Annie, it won’t happen again?’

She responded: “It’s 100 percent going to happen again until people actually do something about it.”

“Common sense people, that’s all we’re asking for.”

The Atlanta Dream have also since spoken out on the issue following the game, saying, ‘At no point was Dream personnel involved in the decisions made by WNBA security’.

The Fever will now return to action on Tuesday evening against the Toronto Tempo.
