The New Jersey Devils will bring five top prospects to training camp with expectations that at least three could make an impact at the NHL level this season. Anton Silayev, Alexander Command, Lenni Hameenaho, Seamus Casey, and Mikhail Yegorov lead the organization’s prospect pool heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Silayev signed a three-year entry-level contract on June 1. He’s expected to compete for an NHL roster spot. The 20-year-old defenseman tallied three points in 61 games for Torpedo in the Kontinental Hockey League last season.
The 6-foot-7, 211-pound blueliner racked up 124 hits and 74 blocked shots during the 2025-26 campaign, earning KHL All-Star honors for the first time. He added two assists in 10 playoff games.
“The expectation is that he comes to training camp and he’s going to try to take an NHL job,” said Devils chief scout of amateur scouting Mark Dennehy, according to NHL.com. “You want to see him continue to improve and once you’ve sort of maxed out at a certain level, you want to bring someone over, especially from Russia, when they have a chance to play at the highest level.”
Command joined the organization as the No. 12 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. Big numbers? Try 44 points in just 30 games for Orebro Jr. last season. The Swedish forward also appeared in six contests with the senior club.
The 17-year-old center notched 13 points across 14 playoff games. He’ll continue his development in Sweden for at least one more season.
“There’s an intensity about Alexander that’s hard to replicate,” Dennehy said. “He’s a competitor, and you can see that when you watch him play.”
Hameenaho appeared in 33 NHL games last season after earning a midseason call-up, posting eight points with the big club while adding 26 points in 37 AHL games with Utica. The 21-year-old forward showed he can contribute at both levels.
Casey appeared in two NHL games last season but missed 43 games with a lower-body injury. When healthy, the 22-year-old defenseman produced 19 points across 29 AHL contests.
Yegorov will enter his junior season at Boston University. The 20-year-old goaltender posted a 16-15-2 record with a 2.73 goals-against average and .904 save percentage in 35 games last season.
