Fabrizio Romano reports that Galatasaray have turned their attention to trying to sign Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace after being turned down by Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.
Romano reports that it would take a “huge, really huge” offer for Palace to consider selling the Senegal international winger at this point in the window

Man City continue selling, Tottenham continue buying?
Manchester City have already brought in around £160m this summer by selling Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, James Trafford and Nathan Ake and that sum could rise if Marmoush and Savinho leave, while they are also in talks with Newcastle about a potential deal for Nico Gonzalez.
But, having broken their transfer record to buy Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m, they are set to spend heavily again in midfield as they look for replacements for Rodri and Reijnders. They are in talks with Lille over Ayyoub Bouaddi and are also interested in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have broken their transfer record twice to sign midfielders Mateus Fernandes, for £85m, and Sandro Tonali, for a fee rising to £100m.
They have also bought centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £52m as well as bringing in fellow defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers.
Spurs have brought in around £72m by selling defenders this week, with Cristian Romero joining Atletico Madrid, Djed Spence going to Inter Milan and Ashley Phillips moving to Middlesbrough.

Why are Liverpool selling Curtis Jones?
Curtis Jones has made 228 appearances for his boyhood club Liverpool, including 49 last season, but ended the campaign at right-back and did not start as often as he wanted in his preferred position in the centre of midfield.
New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has seemed to prefer a partnership of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai during pre-season, when Jones appeared irritated the Hungarian did not pass him the captain’s armband when substituted in the win over Wrexham.
Inter first showed an interest in the 25-year-old at the end of the January transfer window and then returned in June with a €25m (£21.4m) bid that Liverpool rejected.
They valued Jones at nearer €40m (£34.2m) but, with the England international in the final year of his contract, they risk losing him on a free transfer if they do not sell him in the next couple of weeks.

Why signing a right-sided defender is Arsenal’s top priority
A right-sided defender has been highlighted as a priority for Arsenal as they bid to defend their Premier League title.
And there is an awareness that one more injury in this area of the pitch could leave the champions short, following the serious injury to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber’s return to fitness.
Ezri Konsa, who featured for England during the World Cup this summer, is expected to cost around £50m.
The 28-year-old would likely compete with Cristhian Mosquera to deputise for Saliba alongside Gabriel Magalhaes to start the season against Coventry at home on Friday night.
While Konsa can also provide cover at right-back, as an alternative to Ben White with Timber managing his comeback from groin surgery this summer.

Liverpool to submit new bid for Bradley Barcola?
Liverpool retain their interest in PSG’s stars with Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye on their list of targets this summer.
Mbaye has reportedly agreed personal terms for a five-year deal with the Reds though they still need to agree terms with PSG for his transfer.
Liverpool are also preparing a big bid for Barcola according to The Standard who quote a report from RMC Sport.
Barcola’s price is rumoured to be in the £145m price range with Liverpool obviously wanting to negotiate that down.
A rumoured discount could take that price as low as £110m but it seems more likely that Liverpool would need to spend a new club record in order to get their man.

Tottenham plan double Man City raid in expensive attacking revamp
Tottenham are interested in Omar Marmoush as well as Savinho as they could make two signings from Manchester City.
Savinho is a long-term target for Spurs, who considered a £50m move for the Brazilian winger last summer.
But they are also keen on Marmoush as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his forward line and continue his expensive revamp of a squad who only just avoided relegation last season.
Marmoush joined City in January 2025 from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m and has gone on to score 16 goals in 62 games for them.
However, the Egypt international only started eight Premier League matches last season while Savinho, a 2024 arrival from City’s sister club Troyes, began just seven.
The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in 84 appearances for City but was pushed down the pecking order after the January signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
Savinho did not make the bench for Sunday’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal whereas Marmoush, who has served as a striking alternative to Erling Haaland, came on for the final 37 minutes.

Manchester United eye cut-price deal for Carlos Baleba
Last summer, Brighton valued Carlos Baleba at over £100m, but were also reluctant to sell.
Baleba’s price has dropped after a difficult year.
United have turned back to him after missing out on two midfielders they liked, with Mateus Fernandes instead joining Tottenham from West Ham and Elliot Anderson moving to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest.
They had also agreed to sign Ederson from Atalanta before a medical revealed concerns and the deal for the Brazil international fell through.
While Baleba is currently out after an ankle problem, it is not thought to keep him out for long or to be enough of an issue to prevent a transfer from going through.
United have bought two midfielders in this transfer window, with Andrey Santos joining from Chelsea for £48m and Youri Tielemans arriving from Aston Villa for £35m.
But they have lost Casemiro while Manuel Ugarte is sidelined and Mason Mount has missed their last two-pre-season friendlies.

Tottenham want both Savinho and Omar Marmoush
Now this is a transfer bomba from the excellent David Ornstein, who reports that Tottenham are working on a double deal to sign both Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City.
The Independent’s Miguel Delaney reported on Friday that Tottenham wanted to sign two attackers before the deadline and Savinho has been linked to Spurs all summer, but the inclusion of Marmoush is a shock.
The Egyptian is not set to be part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, however, so could Tottenham get this over the line? It would not be cheap. Savinho alone is valued at £60m so it seems as if Tottenham would need around £120m for both?

Diego Simeone to bench Arsenal target Julian Alvarez amid transfer standoff
One of the players gathering plenty of interest in this summer window is Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
Both Arsenal and Barcelona have been linked with the former Manchester City striker but Atletico’s stance has been that he is not for sale.
Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin even said the club would not accept even €200 million for a major asset they wanted to keep.
“Miguel Angel is the club’s owner. Nothing is more definitive than the club’s owner, it’s crystal clear. It’s like when a judge hands down a ruling: ‘Dismissed,'” Simeone said ahead of Atletico’s opener against Malaga on Wednesday.
“What he said is crystal clear. From a sports perspective, we want to look out for the person, the player, so he can continue to uphold his reputation.
“We don’t see him playing in this game. I hope that over the next four days, he’ll be closer to where we want him to be.
“He needs more practice. He’s the best player we have and we’re going to try to build a team around him, keeping his level in mind.”
