STAR VALLEY — The Rock Springs Tigers claimed a second-place finish in the season-opening Star Valley Golf Invite with a team score of 674.
Meanwhile, the Green River Wolves finished seventh of eight teams with 733 strokes.
On the girls side, the Tigers took fourth of five teams with Regan Veesart leading the way in their 593-stroke performance.
Logan Freuler and Lucas Allred of Rock Springs led the Sweetwater County golfers by tying for seventh place at 164 strokes. Teammate Justin Millemon was just two strokes behind them tied for 10th place after posting two 83-stroke days.
Green River’s leader was Jacob Bundy, who tied for 15th place at 169. Fellow Wolf Cooper Brownlee, after a strong 81 on day one, finished with 171 strokes to claim 20th place.
James Anderson tied for 28th for the Tigers at 180. Also from Rock Springs, Izzy Cruz and Brayton Boylen finished back-to-back in 38th and 39th with 188 and 191 strokes, respectively.
Four Green River golfers finished in a row with Jason Evans in 43rd, Jake Demaret in 44th, Cade Myers tied for 45th and Manny Munoz tied for 47th. Evans golfed a 194, Demaret a 195, Myers a 196 and Munoz a 197.
Wolves RJ Gunter came in 51st place after golfing a 209. Teammate Chase Olsen was not far behind with his 213-stroke, 54th-place performance.
Rock Springs’ Landon Davis tied with Olsen in 54th to close out the Tigers’ competitors.
Four more Wolves capped off the results with Gabe Cordova in 59th at 223, Xavier Fernandez in 61st at 224, Nathan Clement in 63rd at 232, and Ashton Hermanson in 64th at 243.
Star Valley won the tournament with a team total of 613 strokes. Rock Springs came in second with 674, followed by Jackson in third with 681. Evanston placed fourth with 683, Star Valley JV placed fifth with 690, Kemmerer placed sixth with 730, Green River placed seventh with 733, and Lyman placed eighth with 781.
For the Rock Springs girls, Veesart’s team-leading performance of 193 strokes was good for eighth place. Behind her, Addie Doerr and Cambri Pederson finished consecutively in 13th and 14th with stroke totals of 200 and 204. Jalen Agudu came in 17th at 215, Olivia Goich came in 18th at 217, and Zoey Marincic came in 21st at 228.
Only five schools competed on the girls side, with Evanston winning wity 542 strokes. Star Valley took second at 551, Jackson took third at 579, Rock Springs took fourth at 593, and Star Valley JV took fifth at 698.
