As the second week of NFL preseason action winds down, it’ll feature another long list of former Tennessee football stars in action. On Sunday night, just one game is on the books, though. It’ll be the Seattle Seahawks visiting the Tennessee Titans.
For the visiting Seahawks, it has just one VFL. After playing 2020 and 2021 at Tennessee and sticking through the coaching change from Jeremy Pruitt to Josh Heupel, Velus Jones Jr. has bounced around the NFL at multiple positions. Currently, he’s a running back for Seattle.
The in-state Titans have four former Tennessee standouts on the roster. A long-time member of the team, Morgan Cox does the long snapping. On defense, cornerbacks Alontae Taylor and Jalen McMurray are on the team. Both are in their first year with the Titans, but Taylor joins as a free agent after starring for the Saints, and McMurray is a rookie after signing as an undrafted free agent.
The headline of the evening will be quarterback Hendon Hooker, though. He is battling for a roster spot behind the starter Cam Ward alongside Mitch Trubisky and Will Levis. He got a handful of snaps in the first preseason game, but could have more on his plate this time around.
Kick-off between the teams is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will air on FOX. It’s the final preseason game of the week two slate, with one more week of preseason games until the regular season is next up on the docket.
