NASCAR Cup Series race underway after rain delay
LOUDON, N.H. —
The Dollar Tree 301, this year’s annual NASCAR Cup Series race in Loudon, New Hampshire, faced expected wet weather Sunday.
During pace warmup laps, driver Carson Hocevar spun out on the fourth turn of the Magic Mile.
Shortly after that, the start of the race was delayed because of passing rain showers. Drivers returned to pit row and their cars were covered.
The green flag was officially waved in the three o’clock hour, after the start was moved up to 2pm to attempt to avoid the rain.
As the rain died down, the excitement built among fans in the stands.
Cars started the race with wet-weather tires on, but NASCAR gave permission to switch to regular tires during the first stage.
