EA Sports has released its top 300 player ratings for NHL 27, and the Boston Bruins have 10 players on the list ahead of the game’s release on September 11.
The Bruins have players scattered throughout the rankings, but only one landed among elite company.
David Pastrnak is a 95 overall, making him the seventh-highest-rated player in the game. He is the second-best right winger in the game, only behind Nikita Kucherov, and he is the fifth-best forward behind Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Kucherov, and Leon Draisaitl. He is coming off his fourth consecutive 100-point season and just set a career high with 71 assists. EA also moved him from No. 9 to No. 7 overall.
Jeremy Swayman is next on the list, though he just missed the top 50. EA gave him an 89 overall rating, making him the sixth-best goaltender in the game. Swayman is coming off his first 30-win season in the NHL; he posted a 31-18-4 record with a 2.71 GAA and .908 SV%. He finished second in the league with 28.8 goals saved above expected and third in Vezina Trophy voting.
Charlie McAvoy is right behind Swayman, with Adam Fox sandwiched between the two Bruins. McAvoy is also an 89 overall, rated 53rd in the game and 14th among defensemen. His rating did not move from last year’s game, even after the best offensive output of his NHL career.
Pastrnak, Swayman, and McAvoy are the only Bruins ranked inside the top 100.
Morgan Geekie jumped to an 87 overall, up from an 83 at this time last year. After a 39-goal season, Geekie is in the same range as players like 41-goal scorer Cutter Gauthier and 37-goal scorer Pavel Dorofeyev; both are also an 87.
The new guy is the fifth-best player on the team, according to EA. They rated JJ Peterka an 86 overall, the same rating he had last year in Utah, which is good for 152nd in the game.
He’s the 47th-rated winger and the last Bruin inside the top 200.
Pavel Zacha is just outside the top 200, at No. 207, and starting the game with an 85 overall rating. His career-high 30-goal, 65-point season did not drastically change his rating, but he is up one overall from this time last year.
Three Bruins defensemen, Nikita Zadorov, Mason Lohrei, and Hampus Lindholm, are also an 85 overall and all landed between Nos. 237 and 241.
Elias Lindholm rounds out the list for the Bruins. He will have an 84 overall rating in NHL 27, and he is ranked No. 273 in the game and 72nd among centers.
