SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga basketball program has announced its newest addition, this time in the form of a new assistant coach. Bryce Douglas has been hired by the Bulldogs to replace Jorge Sanz, who has been on coach Mark Few’s staff since 2018 and most recently served as an assistant coach and director of basketball operations before taking a position on Michael Malone’s North Carolina staff this summer.

Douglas joins the Gonzaga bench after three seasons as an assistant coach for Seattle U. In his time at Seattle, the Redhawks posted a 58-46 overall record and made the second round of the 2026 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and won the 2024 Ro College Basketball Invitational.

Prior to his tenure with Seattle U, Douglas served six seasons as a special assistant coach for the Florida and Georgia basketball programs. He was the video coordinator for the Duke Blue Devils during their 2015 national championship campaign and worked as a scout/analyst for the Phoenix Suns from 2015-17.

The Tacoma, Washington, native was an assistant coach at Whitman College from 2011 to 2013, during which the Blues went 37-16. The Bellarmine Preparatory School graduate played his collegiate ball for the University of Puget Sound, helping the Loggers advance to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2006 and the Sweet 16 in his senior season in 2009.

Douglas was named to Silver Waves Media’s Top 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistant Coaches, along with current Gonzaga assistant coaches Brian Michaelson, R-Jay Barsh, Stephen Gentry and Zach Norvell Jr.

Douglas brings an array of experience as a special assistant coach, scout and video coordinator to coach Few’s staff for the 2026-27 season.
