The Little River Women’s Golf Club Annual Invitational golf tournament was played on the Little River Golf Course last Tuesday, August 18th. The two best combined scores are recorded on the second hole. Cha, cha. On the third hole, the three best scores are the team score. Cha, cha, cha. Thirty-six women showed up for the tournament with Bonnie Eagelton driving the farthest from Carson City, Nevada. After Sean Meade opened up the second hole for aces, shooting his hole-in-one earlier this month, Stephen Duerr got another hole-in-one last week, on the number two hole. Stephen owns Piaci’s Pizza in Ft. Bragg, so he makes pizzas and aces. Congratulations Stephan. Take advantage, golfers; hole two is accepting aces.
The 2026 Men’s Club Championship continues. Last week Jim Ellis won the 2nd flight handicap division defeating Rich Van Baren 2 holes up. Jim is a 10.4 handicap index, and Rich is a 10.3 index so they were very evenly matched. Nice round, Jim. Congratulations. Dave Hautala and Neil Blaney will face off to determine the winner of the 3rd flight division. In the scratch, no handicap division Grant Pardini defeated Matt Howard to move up to the final deciding match against Will Johnson, who beat Bryan Paulson last week. The final match, to determine the 2026 scratch Men’s Club Championship, is decided after the two competitors play two back-to-back 18-hole rounds.
