AVALON — Lakeside Lutheran junior Bella Roman shot 85, a new career-low for 18 holes, to place fourth at the Clinton Cougar Invite held at Prairie Woods Golf Course on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
“Bella’s our leader and she had a great day out there,” Lakeside girls golf coach Bill Tomlin said. “We’re proud of her for her top 4 finish.”
Roman made nine pars en route to placing in the top five in the 52-player field.
Juniors Josie Boche (111) and Bethel Leckwee (127) and senior Olivia Detjen (145) also scored for the Warriors, who shot 468 to finish ninth.
“I’m hopeful this is a turning point for us as three of our girls had never played an 18-hole round of golf,” Tomlin said. “With that in mind, the girls each had their moments and kept battling throughout the day.
“We need to clean up our putting and chipping a bit; those two areas cost us a couple dozen strokes as a team. We’ll keep working at it.”
Cambridge shot 440, placing sixth. Freshman Izzy Brobston shot 104 to lead the Blue Jays, who also counted sophomore Maddison Portner’s 111, junior Annilee Legge’s 112 and junior Sophia Nelson’s 113.
Parkview freshman Taytum Oswald shot 1-over 72, winning medalist honors by nine strokes over Edgerton sophomore Kenna Cooper.
Team scores: Edgerton 336, Turner 400, Parkview 409, East Troy 422, Jefferson 437, Cambridge 440, Clinton 454, Elkhorn 457, Lakeside Lutheran 468, Delavan-Darien 478, Big Foot inc.
