Bowling Green women’s golf begins their season against the hosting Youngstown State Penguins at Mill Creek Park Golf Course  in Hermitage, PA for the Falcon’s first tournament of the season.  

The match will take place as a single day event on Monday, Aug. 31st hosted by Youngstown State University and includes 11 total universities. Competitors will play 36 holes and have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. 

The 11 represented universities this year are Akron, Bowling Green , Chicago State, Dayton, Eastern Illinois, IU Indianapolis, Le Moyne, Mercyhurst, University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Youngstown State.

The Orange and Brown begin the 2026-2027 campaign on the road as they have for every single season in the 28-year history of BG women’s golf.

Returning for the Falcons and playing a critical role for BGSU is junior Addison Kartusch, who appeared in all 11 tournaments last season for the Falcons. Kartusch notably shot a tournament record 209 (-7) at the National Golf Invitational back in May. 

She also finished in the top 20 of every tournament last fall for the Falcons. 

As a unit, the Falcons on this year’s current roster still are coached by head coach Erin Fahey who has been at the helm since 2022. Fahey was a senior for the Falcons the last time they went to a tournament hosted by Youngstown State.

Scouting the Field

Throughout the entire field of 11 universities, 74 total golfers will compete through the daylong event. Kartusch represents the Falcons for the first hole at 8:30 a.m. with multiple players to look out for during the event.  

Representing the Buckeyes is All Big Ten First Teamer Nellie Ong. The junior led OSU with a score average of 72.91 and is joined by six Buckeyes in the event.

Another notable competitor for the tournament hails from Malaysia and plays for the Akron Zips. Junior Sohniya Chandra-Mohan posts a 76.6 average was named to the Academic All-MAC Team last season.
