Tuskegee plays in the Red Tails Classic annually as a tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen from World War II. The Golden Tigers come off a 4-7 season but were picked third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. Receiver EJ Hall returns after piling up 681 yards and five touchdowns to go with a second-team All-SIAC selection. Defensive lineman Masiah Wells compiled 55 tackles and four sacks for the defense.
West Alabama comes into the game with 31 transfers, headed by new starting quarterback Luther Richesson, who made five starts last season for FCS Central Arkansas. The Tigers had 11 players named to the preseason All-Gulf South Conference team and come off a 5-4 season that closed with four straight losses. Running back Brayden Jenkins returns after scoring nine touchdowns and gaining 504 yards in eight games a season ago. A defense that struggled in 2025 received a boost from four high-profile transfers in Joseph Harper, Kebian Gilmore, KC Bradford and Legend Doggett.
West Alabama leads the all-time series 8-4, with Tuskegee taking a 13-10 win in the last meeting in 2022.
