MONTAGUE — Consistency has been important for the Ludington girls varsity golf team.

That proved important on Thursday as the Orioles made the trip to Old Channel Trail Golf Course in Montague for West Michigan Conference-Lakes Division Jamboree No. 2.

Ludington ended the day in second place with an overall score of 190, two strokes behind the winner.

The Wildcats secured the win, recording an overall team score of 188. Whitehall took third, while Fremont (4th, 221), Oakridge (5th, 249) and Hart (6th, 258) rounded things out.

Orioles head coach Erica Reed was pleased with her team’s performance.

“The girls competed really well today and showed great consistency throughout the round,” coach Reed said.

“We’re continuing to see improvement from everyone, and it’s exciting to watch this team come together and get better each time we step on the course. We’ll keep working hard and look to build on today’s performance as the season continues.”

Vikings junior Riley Shafer secured individual medalist honors, winning with a 39 over nine holes.

Ludington junior Madelyn Erndteman and freshman Izzabella Kolenda finished in a tie for fourth place with an overall score of 45.

Orioles’ senior Ella Micka locked up sixth place with an overall score of 47.

Junior Rosie Hurd broke into the top 15, taking home 11th place carding a 53.

Senior Annabelle Babe and sophomore Payton Stidham rounded things out for Ludington.

The Orioles are back in action on Monday as they head to Interlochen Golf Course for the TC West Titan Invite.
