EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s tennis team began their 2026-27 campaign on Wednesday with a nonconference match at home against Marian University. The Blugolds and Sabres took the the court at the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center for an afternoon contest that saw UW-Eau Claire drop just four games across the nine matches during their 7-0 victory. The afternoon was highlighted by multiple newcomers finding success in their first NCAA competitions.

As the teams began the afternoon with doubles play, UWEC took control early with three 6-0 match wins. Beatriz Felchak and Delaney Hanson won at No. 1 doubles in straight sets. Kiera Schmid and Brooke Boland followed suit at No. 2 doubles with their 6-0 win, and the duo of Morgan Briggman and Stella Platt did the same at No. 3 doubles. The three wins at doubles secured a 1-0 lead for the Blugolds.

During singles play, Aubrey Wittwer and Ana Paula Ricaurte won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Hanson and Boland kept their momentum from doubles with straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Wrapping up the match, a pair of newcomers were victorious in their first collegiate competitions. Magdalena Kristo and Reese Keller won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, to earn their first collegiate victories.

The Blugolds (1-0) will be back in action on Friday, September 4 when they host Simpson College at the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
