LIU enters Friday’s game at 0-1 after opening the 2026 season with a 42-21 loss to North Dakota. The Sharks fell behind 42-0 at halftime before scoring all 21 of their points in the second half. Tyselle Spencer added a 13-yard rushing touchdown, while linebacker Rafael Fasolino led the defense with 10 solo tackles. LIU finished with 255 total yards but allowed North Dakota to gain 465.
This is the opener for Kansas’ 2026 season after finishing 5-7 last year. The Jayhawks return linebacker Trey Lathan, who led the team with 86 tackles in 2025, along with five other defensive starters. The offense will look different after Kansas graduated a large senior class, with transfers Dylan Edwards and Yasin Willis joining the backfield and Nik McMillan added at wide receiver. Kansas returns only three offensive starters from last season and will need to rely on its experienced defense.
