Steve O’Donnell: “My personal dream, not an announcement…would be to create an oval race in or around London.”
As of April of this year, Steve O’Donnell was promoted to the CEO of NASCAR. This week, he took to the interest to answer questions from fans directly.
In recent years, NASCAR has branched outside of the United States. Last year, the NASCAR Cup Series went to Mexico for the first time but that event was not included in the recent 2027 schedule release.

During that AMA, the discussion of future international races came up. He noted that his own dream would be to create an oval race near London.
He made sure to clarify that as a personal dream of his, not an announcement.
Steve O’Donnell comments on his personal NASCAR dream
“First, we want to make sure fans throughout the United States have an opportunity to experience NASCAR,” NASCAR CEO stated via a Reddit AMA.
“We have created some unique events during the past few years, but I would still love to bring racing back to the Northwest, Denver and another market in the Northeast. We only have so many dates, so every move matters.”
“Internationally, my long-term dream is for NASCAR to become the most popular racing series in the world. When we meet fans who have traveled to the U.S., they are quick to remind us that they want to see NASCAR in their home countries. We currently have international series in Mexico, Canada, Brazil and Europe, and Scott Prime and our international team are working hard to build on that foundation.”

On a possible return to Montreal
“We took the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series to Montreal, and I loved the facility and the support from Canadian fans,” O’Donnell added.
“If we can make something happen again, our first priority would probably be to include the NASCAR Canada Series as part of the weekend and then look at every other option. We talk with the folks at INDYCAR and FOX often about future events, and the Phoenix event worked out extremely well.”
“Bottom line: Canada is a market where we want to race, and it has supported NASCAR tremendously. Don’t forget that the Trucks are returning to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park next September.”
