ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Blugolds men’s golf tied for first out of 23 teams at the 2026 Highland Championship after firing a nine-under day two score, posting a 572 (-4) at Highland Springs Municipal GC over two days. UWEC tied with Augustana (Ill.) “B” team in the tournament.
 
Karsen Kruse tied for first individually at 136 (-8) after consecutive 68s, including a second round that consisted of three birdies and an eagle. Spencer Lynch tied for third at 141 (-3) overall after a four-under with four birdies and an eagle on his excellent day two performance. UWEC “B” team finished was fourth at 584 (+8).

Michael Markley tallied a one-under in two days with a three-under on day two after four birdies and an eagle, good for a tie for fifth individually. Samuel Forslund and Luke Taebel each shot an even par over the two-day stretch, tying for eight overall. Reis Von Ruden rounded out the “A” squad with an eight-over par two-day total.

Kruse paced the “B” squad with his tremendous eight-under tournament. Cameron Stenzel finished in a tie for 20th place individually after a three-over two-day tally with an even par 72 on day two in part to his four birdies on Sunday.

Up next, UWEC will host the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational. The two-day tournament tees off on Sunday, September 13 at 1:30 p.m., at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.
