Patriot Pair Up Next as Women's Soccer Hosts Colgate, Visits Lehigh - RAW CHILI

Non-conference play continues this week for the Princeton women’s soccer team, hosting Colgate on Thursday night before visiting Lehigh on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers enter the week 2-3 after opening the season with a 3-0 win over Loyola Maryland, falling at Syracuse, defeating James Madison 2-0 and dropping a pair of decisions at Big Ten opponents last week, with a 4-0 loss at No. 8 Ohio State before a 4-2 loss at Rutgers on Sunday.

Through the Tigers’ first five games, Isabella Garces leads Princeton with three goals and six points, while Kayla Wong has a goal and three assists on the way to five points, Dylan Jovanovic has a goal and an assist for three points, and Maddie Recupero and Nina Cantor have a Princeton goal apiece. Garces led the Tigers with 10 shots, while Stella Monberg has nine and Jovanovic and Recupero have eight apiece. Princeton outshot opponents 73-58 and held a 28-26 edge in shots on goal through those first five games.

Princeton was picked first in the Ivy League preseason poll, receiving 120 points and 10 of the 16 first-place votes. The Tigers are coming off their second straight Ivy League title after going 5-2 in Ivy play last season and closing the regular season with five straight wins to claim the league championship.

On Colgate

Colgate enters Thursday’s game at 1-4-2 and will be looking to snap a four-match winless skid when it visits Roberts Stadium. The Raiders opened the season with losses at Pepperdine and Long Beach State, defeated Marist 1-0, fell 2-1 to Canisius, and then played back-to-back scoreless draws against Maine and Cornell before a loss to George Washington.

The Raiders have scored three goals and allowed nine through seven games while being narrowly outshot by opponents 81-78. Colgate has put 25 of its 78 shots on goal, while opponents have placed 44 of 81 shots on frame.

Ava McCloskey leads Colgate with three points on a goal and an assist, while Bianca Howitt and Jocelyn Rowe have also scored for the Raiders. Brooke Bodamer, Regan Taylor and Jade Vieira have one assist apiece. In goal, Ella Poppinga has played all 630 minutes, posting a 1.29 goals-against average, an .795 save percentage, 35 saves and three shutouts.

Colgate was picked third in the Patriot League preseason poll, behind Army West Point and Boston University. Poppinga was named the Patriot League Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, and she joined Josie Tunney on the preseason All-Patriot League team.

Series vs. Colgate

Princeton leads the all-time series with Colgate 7-3-2 entering Thursday’s game. The teams have not met since 2022, and Princeton has won two in a row and is 3-0-1 in the teams’ last four meetings since Colgate’s last win in the series in 2004. In Princeton, the Tigers lead the series 4-1-1, including that last meeting in 2022. Colgate’s only win in Princeton came in 1991.

On Lehigh

Lehigh enters the week at 0-4-1 and will host La Salle on Thursday before welcoming Princeton on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks opened the season with losses to Binghamton, Villanova, NJIT and Drexel before earning a 2-2 draw at Stony Brook on Sunday.

Four players have split the Mountain Hawks’ four goals, with Aminah Baruwa, Esther Brossard, Tori Okorodudu and Lola Wojciechowski each scoring. Chloe Zipprich has played all 450 minutes in goal entering the week, holding a 3.60 GAA and a .550 save percentage with 22 saves.

Lehigh was picked 10th in the Patriot League preseason poll with 14 points.

Series vs. Lehigh

Princeton leads the all-time series with Lehigh 25-0-1 entering Sunday’s game. The teams met last season at Roberts Stadium, with Princeton earning a 5-1 win as Dylan Jovanovic, Alexandra Barry, Isabella Garces, Maddie Recupero and Sarah Houston scored for the Tigers. Sydney Romano and Cecilia Cerone split time in goal, with Romano not facing a shot on goal and Cerone stopping two of Lehigh’s three shots on goal.

The lone tie in the series came in 2009 in Bethlehem, and Princeton has won all 11 meetings since. In Princeton, the Tigers lead the series 15-0.

Tigers in the Pros

Princeton’s professional footprint has Tigers currently playing in the NWSL, Gainbridge Super League and abroad. Tyler McCamey ’25 signed with FC Barcelona Femení over the summer. Pietra Tordin ’26 is in her second season with the Portland Thorns, was named NWSL Rookie of the Month twice in 2025, and is among the league’s best in assists this season, with nine through last weekend.

Madison Curry ’24 is in her second season with Seattle Reign FC, while Aria Nagai ’24 began the 2026 season with Utah Royals FC before being loaned to Dallas Trinity FC for the remainder of the season. Dallas Trinity FC has a strong Princeton presence beyond Nagai, with Drew Coomans ’26 and Heather MacNab ’25 with the club. Tyler Lussi ’17, Princeton’s career record holder in goals and points, continues her professional career with DC Power FC. Lussi was named the Gainbridge Super League Player of the Month for March 2026 after recording four goals and one assist with Carolina Ascent before signing with DC Power ahead of the Fall 2026 season. Lily Bryant ’25 is continuing her professional career in Portugal with FC Porto.
