GRANVILLE, Ohio- The Denison women’s golf team opened the 2026 fall season at home, with a third-place finish at the Big Red’s annual Lynn Schweizer Invitational. In a field of 13 teams, Denison shot nine strokes better than the next team and had two individuals finish in the top 20. Earning first place in this year’s contest was WashU, followed by Randolph Macon in second place.

Round one (5713 yds | Par 73)

Round one got off to a late start due to a rain delay that pushed back the men’s invitational start time, and with the late start to round one, play had to be suspended due to darkness. With a portion of round one still needing to be played, both the first and second rounds tee’d off at 7:30 a.m. on day two to keep the invitational on track. 

Pacing the Big Red on day one was senior Natalia Fanucchi, who finished round one two over par, after recording two birdies, for a final score of 75 for eighth place. Behind her in the standings was first-year Tatum Platt, who after day one tallied three birdies for 17th place. Lizzy Grant finished the day five over, recording one birdie, for 21st place. Rounding out the team score was Anais Oge, who shot a score of 80 in the first round, with one birdie. First-year Jiyyaa Sharma finished the round tied for 34th place after she shot a score of 83 and recorded three birdies.

Round two (5640 yds | Par 72)

On day two of the invitational, a handful of players had to finish out round one and continue playing round two all within the same day. Despite a tough go to day two for the Big Red, the team held tightly to third-place standings. By the end of the invitational, Denison fired off 16 birdies, which was tied for the third-most birdies in the invitational. 

Much like the day before, Fanucchi found her rhythm and finished the day with a score of 77, five over par, with two birdies. She finished the invitational in the top spot for par three finishes, while first-year Platt was tied for first in total birdies, after firing six across the two days. Platt, Grant, Oge and Sharma all finished the day with a score of 83, with Platt taking 16th, Grant finishing tied for 21st, and Oge tied for 28th to round out the team score. Sharma finished the weekend tied for 33rd.
