CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 7 Florida women’s golf team holds a five-shot lead heading into the final round of the season opener at the Cougar Classic on Monday. Behind an 8-under second round, redshirt sophomore Jessica Guiser leads the Gators, sitting tied for second at 5-under and two shots off the individual lead.

Florida opened the season with a team round of 1-under and followed with a 7-shot improvement in the second round to move to 9-under and take the team lead. Baylor (-4), Arkansas (-1) and Tennessee (-1) round out the teams in contention heading into Tuesday’s final round. A victory would mark Florida’s fourth all-time at the Cougar Classic and first since 2018.

All five Gators in the lineup recorded at least one under-par round, led by Guiser with rounds of 67 (-4) and 70 (-1). Her opening-round 67 marked her lowest round, while the outing puts her in contention for her second collegiate victory. After redshirting last season, Guiser made her return to competition for her first appearance since May 18, 2025, at the NCAA Championships — a span of 477 days.

Behind Guiser, Paula Francisco and Katelyn Huber sit tied for 13th at 1-under. Francisco opened with a 69 (-2), while Huber carded a 71 (E) and 70 (-1). Huber’s three total bogeys are the third-fewest in the field.

Both Addison Klonowski and Elaine Widjaja improved in the afternoon round. Klonowski climbed nine shots from her opening round with a 69 (-2), highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole, while Widjaja improved by three shots with a 70 (-1) to move into a tie for 23rd.

The Gators tee off the final round Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
