BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — No. 6-ranked Indiana men’s soccer earned its 850th all-time victory Monday (Sept. 7) night, defeating Denver 3-1 on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, marking the quickest ascent 850 wins in NCAA Division I men’s soccer history (within 54 seasons).
 
The Hoosiers remain unbeaten as they arrive at Big Ten Conference play later this week, having outscored opponents 13-3 through six matches.
 
Indiana piled on 27 shots, 15 on target, and scored three goals in the second match of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic. Wes Carnevale opened the scoring in the 29th minute, recording a goal in a second consecutive match. His effort was followed by two especially skillful finishes: Michael Adu-Gyamfi’s left-footed volley for his first-career goal in the 56th and Oliver Moller-Jensen’s 79th-minute half-bicycle kick. In the 70th minute Denver’s Will King spoiled IU’s season-long streak of not conceding a goal from open play, which ended at 519 minutes.
 
Indiana became the seventh Division I men’s soccer program to reach 850 victories all-time but the first to do so within 54 seasons. By percentage, IU is the winningest program in DI men’s soccer history with a .771 mark (850-209-124).
 
KEY MOMENTS
• 29′ – GOAL! The Denver goalkeeper punched a corner kick out toward the top of the box, where Nick McHenry got to it first and pushed it back toward goal. The ball came to Carnevale, who bumped it off his chest and flicked it into goal with his right foot. Indiana 1, Denver 0
• 29′ – Moments after the restart, Denver forced IU goalkeeper Michal Mroz to make his save of the year so far off a long-distance shot. Mroz had to dive full extension to his left to maintain Indiana’s advantage.
• 45′ – That opportunity represented Denver’s lone shot of the half, as IU led the category 15-1 going into the break.
• 56′ – GOAL! Adu-Gyamfi was rewarded for all of the skill, creativity and playmaking he has showcased early in this season, roofing a left-footed volley for his first collegiate goal. Charlie Heuer and Stephane Njike were both involved in the buildup leading to the strike. Indiana 2, Denver 0
• 70′ – GOAL! Denver cut IU’s lead in half with 20 minutes to play. Kyle McGowan found Bryce Willoguhby with space on the left wing, and the latter’s pass across deflected off a Hoosier shin and into the path of King. King struck it first time with his left, and the shot deflected off a Hoosier and tucked inside the near post. Indiana 2, Denver 1
• 77′ – Heuer must have felt there was a lid on the Denver goal, seeing three shots saved – one by the keeper bookended by two defender clearances off the line.
• 79′ – GOAL! Moller-Jensen showcased his class once again and iced the match. Collins Oduro floated a cross from the left end-line, and Moller-Jensen found it, leaped, contorted his body and buried a left-footed, half-bicycle finish. Indiana 3, Denver 1
 
NOTABLES
• Oliver Moller-Jensen has sustained his early form, recording his fifth goal and seventh goal contribution through six matches.
• Adu-Gyamfi and Njike recorded their first goal contributions in cream and crimson Monday, while Oduro earned his first point of the season. Fourteen unique Hoosiers have contributed to 13 goals during this 2026 campaign.  
• Indiana has recorded five consecutive home victories to start the season. Monday’s win marked the program’s 100th since the start of the 2016 season, improving to 100-11-17 (.848) in that span with 69 clean sheets in those 128 matches. IU boasts a 385-67-54 (.814) record all-time at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
• Indiana has yet to concede multiple goals in any of its six matches this season, holding opponents to three goals (0.5 goals against average), 50 shots (8.33 per game) and 16 shots on goal (2.6 per game). Denver’s four shots on goal tied a season-high for IU opponents.
• For the second consecutive season, Indiana will open conference play without a loss to its record.  
• Indiana improved to 3-1-0 in the all-time series with Denver. Monday’s match marked the first meeting in Bloomington.
