Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris reportedly will not join LSU’s roster for the 2026 season.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Tuesday the Tigers added two other players to their roster, which brings the total to 105 players. That means the roster is locked for the remainder of the campaign, and Wright and Harris cannot be added despite the attention they drew as former NFL players who were looking to join the program.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, cornerback Aidan Anding and defensive end Gabriel Reliford are the players being added to the roster.

Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports provided an update to the situation:

This comes after the SEC filed an amended complaint against LSU and even scheduled a vote to decide whether to expel the program from the conference.

ESPN’s Thamel, Mark Schlabach and Dan Murphy reported the SEC was “not expected to take such action, but the filing indicates the seriousness of the league as it attempts to affirm the legal right to enforce its own rules.”

The SEC also released a statement that said, “The SEC and its member universities have the right to establish, through agreed-upon governance procedures, the rules under which they voluntarily compete and to expect those rules to be followed. A commitment to those rules, and to the core principles of the Southeastern Conference, is an essential element of SEC membership.

“Today’s filing is necessary to defend that right and preserve the Conference’s ability to govern competition among its members.”

Wright was waived by the Cleveland Browns in August, while Harris was waived by the New Orleans Saints. While they both practiced with LSU leading up to Saturday’s season opener against Clemson, they were not added to the roster for the game.

They argued eligibility rules changing and providing five years for players meant they should be allowed to return to the college game. A Louisiana judge granted a temporary restraining order and then a preliminary injunction opening the possibility to play this season.

However, the SEC filed a federal suit while the league’s other schools all agreed commissioner Greg Sankey could issue penalties such as the suspension of a head coach for half a season and a fine of half the team’s annual operating budget if they played former professionals.

While the back and forth between the program and its own conference has generated plenty of headlines, the absence of Wright and Harris from LSU’s roster for Saturday’s game didn’t hold the Tigers back in their commanding win over Clemson.

LSU won 51-10 behind 309 yards and four scores on the ground. The dominant rushing attack overwhelmed Clemson, while LSU’s defense shut down the visitors’ offense for the majority of the game.

Next up for LSU is a home game against Louisiana Tech.
