McCALL — Coeur d’Alene junior Ella Wilson shot an even-par 72 to earn girls medalists honors at the Mike McCready Invitational at Jug Mountain Ranch Golf Course on Tuesday, leading the Vikings to the team title.
Coeur d’Alene shot a 304, eight strokes better than tournament host Rocky Mountain of Meridian, which has won the last six state titles.
“The girls were awesome today, setting a school team record with a 304,” Coeur d’Alene girls coach Jeff Lake said. “Jug Mountain is a very difficult course and the girls did a great job of executing our plan of keeping things simple and not compounding mistakes. It was a total team win and I couldn’t be more proud of my group.”
Mason McGee of Mountain View in Meridian shot a 7-under-par 65 to earn boys medalist honors, leading the Mavericks to the team title with a 279. Coeur d’Alene’s boys were ninth with a 344.
Coeur d’Alene competes in the Lewiston Invitational on Sept. 16 at Bryden Canyon Golf Course in Lewiston.
