Donald Trump randomly brought up the Luka Doncic trade on Wednesday night and NBA fans had some hilarious reactions to his take.
The President of the United States is no stranger to deals, he’s made it a point to let the people know about his extensive history on that front.
Donald Trump has now involved himself in NBA discourse, bringing up the time Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2025.
While Doncic himself seems quite settled in LA now, Trump claimed he doesn’t understand why the move happened. And when he suggested that he could ‘redo that deal’, fans online had a lot to say.

NBA fans pointed out Donald Trump’s connection to new LA Lakers owner and Dallas Mavericks owner
When talking about the trade, DJT said it was the ‘worst deal in the history of sports’. And while there’s no undoing it realistically speaking, Trump has never been someone to be hampered by that.
In response to his comments, fans online pointed out that not only is new Lakers’ owner Josh Kushner related to Trump, but Mavericks owner Miriam Adelson is also a known ally.

“Just tell Josh and Miriam to make it happen then, you can do that,” one fan wrote. “With the kinda run he’s been on he might just use the President’s seat to actually redo the deal himself,” another said.
“When the trade is so bad even Trump wants a do-over,” a third fan commented. “So the Lakers are owned by Kushner, and Trump is buddies with Mavs owners, the Adelsons,” another fan pointed out.
“For the first time in my life I’m praying for a presidential veto,” a fifth fan replied. “He has the power, like when he pardoned a US national in the football World Cup,” a sixth fan added.
Of course, while these are all fun hypotheticals, both Luka Doncic and the Mavericks have now firmly moved on. It’s too late, but those in Dallas who still haven’t moved on were just given an impossible hope.
