SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The 2026-27 season gets underway for the Washington men’s golf team, hosting some of the top-ranked teams in the nation at the Sahalee Players Championship.
 
Play at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. begins on Saturday with 36 holes followed by the final 18 on Sunday on the “North” and “South” courses. Tee times begin at 7:00 a.m. on split tees on the par 72 course measuring 7,007 yards.

Eight of the 12 teams are ranked in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll including all of the Top 4 teams. Joining the Huskies in the field are No. 24 Arizona, No. 4 Arizona State, Cal, Duke, No. 1 Florida, No. 12 Illinois, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 13 Pepperdine, San Diego State and No. 14 UCLA.

Washington will be paired with Arizona State and UCLA for the first two round on Saturday starting on hole No. 1 at 7:00 a.m. PT.

UW enters the first season with head coach Thomas Sutton who was hired on June 2 after serving the last four seasons as associate head coach at Arizona State. Sutton served as an assistant coach at UW from 2017 to 2022. During his time with the Sun Devils, Sutton helped the program win 13 team titles including three this season and six over the past two years. Sutton helped coach 11 GCAA All-Americans at ASU – three of which earned first team honors.
 
The Huskies’ roster will return Jake Foley, Emil Herstad (Second Team All-Big Ten), Finn Koelle (Second Team All-Big Ten & Big Ten Championship Runner-Up), Brock Maulding and Grady Millar. Washington also welcomes three newcomers to the squad in freshmen Quinn Burwell and Hamish Farquharson alongside Seattle U transfer, Walker Lamb. Earlier this week, Herstad, Koelle and Millar were named to the Big Ten Preseason Golfers to Watch List.
