VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior forward Anthony Randazzo scored in the 21st minute but Felix Ludemann got the equalizer in the 55th minute as Binghamton (1-2-3) and Le Moyne (3-1-2) played to a 1-1 deadlock in a non-conference men’s soccer match on Saturday evening at the Bearcats Sports Complex. With the draw, the Bearcats extended their unbeaten streak to three matches, having gone 1-0-2 during that stretch.
Randazzo’s goal was his second of the season – and his third in the past two matches against Le Moyne. It came on a give-and-go with redshirt sophomore forward Ryan Conti. Randazzo finished the play by firing the ball from close range into the lower right corner of the net.
Ludemann’s goal, meanwhile, came on a free kick from just outside the box. He struck the ball into the upper-right corner of the net, ending a Binghamton streak of 258 minutes of shutout soccer. It was also Ludemann’s team-best third goal of the season.
Including the Dolphins’ game-tying goal, Binghamton played down a man for the final 35 minutes of the match. Still, the Bearcats were on the attack for much of the final 10 minutes of play. During that span, they had a pair of shots from close range and also drew two corner kicks as well as a pair of free kicks from just outside the box.
“I was delighted with the fight of our guys tonight,” head coach Tommy Moon said. “I thought they were unbelievably resilient in the game. To not concede a goal and to continue to create chances after we were down a player is something I was very proud of.”
Playing a man up for the final third of the match, Le Moyne finished with a 17-10 shot advantage, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Natan Jemaneh Admassu, however, finished with a career-high seven saves.
For his career, Randazzo now has 12 goals, which is tied for the eighth-best total during Binghamton’s 26-year NCAA Division I era. Matt Narode (2004-07), Nikos Psarras (2015-18) and Ethan Homler (2019-22) all finished with 12 goals during their time with the Bearcats.
Conti’s assist was his first of the season and second of his career.
Binghamton travels to Hofstra next Saturday for a 5 p.m. match.
