NHL 27 is out, and it has sparked controversy over player face scans, but San Jose Sharks forward Quentin Musty hopes his turned out well.
Players’ face scans in the EA Sports game have gone viral, and not for good reasons. Although players have generally looked very close to themselves in recent years, something is off this time. Viral social media pictures, and even a story by ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski asking players what they think, have generated more publicity for a game that won’t be fully released until Sept. 11.
Musty spoke to SHD exclusively on Saturday and was asked about his thoughts on the face scans.
“A couple of them are tough. I’m actually a big NHL player, so yeah, some of them are tough, but some are good,” The San Jose Sharks forward said. “I don’t know. They’re working on some things. We’ll see.”
Tough is a nice way of putting it, to say the least.
One of the first face scans that caused a social media storm was San Jose Sharks forward Will Smith’s. Smith hasn’t been made available to comment on what he thinks, if he’s seen it, but take a look for yourself.
Musty, on the other hand, hasn’t seen his face scan yet, despite already playing the game. Regardless, the Sharks prospect is hopeful his scan is accurate.
“I haven’t [seen mine yet],” Musty said. Actually, I was in Chicago this summer for the Upper Deck Showcase, and they did all of our face scans. So I gotta look at that, see if they did it right.”
