RUSTON – Louisiana Tech fell to No. 15 Texas State 1-3 late Sunday night.
After a brief weather delay and 25 minutes of chippy play, the Bobcats opened the scoring with a goal from Marivic Lek-Miro. The aggressive play continued through to the end of the half, with Mackenzie Lorkowski adding three saves to her total.
Just four minutes into the second half, Abby Hanton tied the game up. She crashed into the box and tapped the ball in after the Texas State goalie bobbled a free kick shot from Brielle Buchanan.
Texas State increased the pressure and took back the lead after a goal from Victoria Meza. Not too long after, they added another goal in the 69th minute.
From there, the Bobcats bolstered their defenses and allowed only one more shot from the Bulldogs.
Louisiana Tech is back in action and starts Sun Belt play this Saturday, September 19, in Huntington, West Virginia against Marshall. Start time is set for 7 p.m. CT.

Head Coach Matt Lodge
“I was very happy and proud of the performance. Welcoming the number fifteen team in the nation to Ruston, you know it is going to be a tough game. I thought we executed our game plan almost perfectly. We were compact defensively, but we were brave on the ball. We have got to make teams like that work for goals more than we did. Credit to Texas State and Steve, he’s done a phenomenal job with the program. Happy with the performance, I am happy with how we approached it. If we can play like this during conference play, we will be just fine.”
