HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team finished third at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, closing the 54-hole event at 11-under par at Guyan Golf and Country Club.
EKU posted rounds of 4-under, 4-under and 3-under to finish just two strokes behind tournament champion Bellarmine (-13) and one behind runner-up Purdue Fort Wayne (-12). The 14-team field competed on the par-71, 6,523-yard layout.
Freshmen Tucker Jones and Seth Barker led the Colonels, tying for seventh at 4-under. Jones carded rounds of 69, 69 and 71 and recorded 10 birdies over the three rounds. Barker totaled 14 birdies for the tournament, including five in Tuesday’s final round on his way to a team-best 3-under 68.
Jonathan Ericsson finished tied for 21st at 1-under following rounds of 71, 69 and 72. Hristo Yanakiev tied for 32nd at 1-over after closing with a 1-under 70, while Milton Wallin rounded out the EKU lineup in a tie for 41st at 4-over.
Jacob Lewallen, competing as an individual, finished tied for 53rd at 6-over.
The Colonels return to action Sept. 26-27 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate, hosted by Ball State at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.
