I met my good friend Christine’s fiancé at a benefit gala last weekend. Her beau, Jim, has been in a Fantasy Football league for over 10 years with his high school buddies. He’s got a most unusual team name — “Go Buck Yourself” — which is a little salty, but I think it’s clever as hell because you either love or hate Joe Buck. I guess it’s the latter for Jim. He celebrated a championship last year, but if you think his team’s name is off-color, decorum will not allow me to print the name of his league. It’s rather sensual in nature and better left unsaid. It just goes to show you: Fantasy Football players are a crazy lot. And that’s what makes this game so much fun. Now, enough about wacky team and league names. Let’s get down to business for Week 2.

GIDDY UP!

QB Dak Prescott vs. Commanders — Forget Dak’s poor showing against the resurging Giants. He’s thrown five TDs and almost 600 yards in his last two games against Washington.

QB Brock Purdy vs. Dolphins — Purdy is a Top 10 Fantasy QB who was overlooked in many drafts in August. But his three TDs against a tough Rams defense in Australia made many fantasy owners rue their decision. Purdy will fillet the Dolphins this Sunday.

RB Jadarian Price at Cardinals — Price was only on the field for 50% of offensive plays last week, reminding us that Seattle will continue their dreaded RB timeshare that gave us nightmares last year. But Jadarian makes the most of his limited opportunities, and the Cards are a sieve on defense.

RB Saquon Barkley at Titans — The Titans’ uniforms are powder blue, but they play defense like powder puffs. Barkley was a disappointment on opening day but this week he cruises against the “Thumbtacks” (check out their new helmets) of Tennessee.

WR D.J. Moore vs. Lions — Moore knows the Lions well from his Chicago playing days. In nine games vs. the Kitty-Cats, Moore has 53 receptions for 753 yards and six TDs.

WR Luthor Burden vs. Vikings — Burden was solid last week, catching all five passes thrown his way for 63 yards. He’s on a pace for 85-100 catches this year, and the Vikings are the next notch in his belt.

TE AJ Barner at Cardinals — The Birds continue last year’s woes of not being able to cover TEs. If you need 10 points from the position this week, Barner will come through for you.

WHOA DOWN!

QB Tyler Shough at Ravens — His name is pronounced “Chuck,” as in “Tyler had to chuck the ball 56 times last week” (410 yds, 3 TDs) against lowly Detroit. On the road in Baltimore is a much bigger ask.

QB Drake Maye vs. Steelers — Maye has thrown five interceptions in his last two games. Now without the services of A.J. Brown, I fear that trend will only persist against Pittsburgh.

RB Bhayshul Tuten at Broncos — Tuten continues to be unimpressive. In a smash spot against Cleveland, he delivered all of 9.8 fantasy points. He’s a liability if he doesn’t score a TD, and he’s never had more than two receptions in any game.

RB Quinshon Judkins at Buccaneers — It’s not Judkins’ fault. He’s a quality back. But he will continue to face loaded defensive fronts as long as the ineffective Deshaun Watson is at QB.

WR Carnell Tate vs. Eagles — I think by 2028 we will be mentioning the youngster Tate in the same breath as Justin Jefferson and Puka Nacua. But until then, keep Tater Tot on your bench.

WRs Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins vs. Steelers — The Patriots of New England lost the Battle of Bunker Hill because they were forced to retreat when they ran out of ammunition. Likewise, this WRs corps lacks firepower without A.J. Brown.

TE Dalton Schultz vs. Bengals — The elder statesman for the Texans always gives 100%. But the Bengals have an uncanny knack for keeping opposing TEs in check.

Thursday Night Special — Opening night of the new Highmark Stadium in Buffalo. Bills coming off a huge win in Houston. Lions barely squeaking past the Saints. Josh Allen will light up the Buffalo sky and give Bills Mafia a reason to celebrate in their new safehouse. Bills 35, Lions 24
