VILLANOVA, Pa. — The Villanova women’s tennis team is set to begin its fall season with the Villanova/Delaware Invitational this weekend. The invitational will begin on Friday, September 18 at 2 p.m. and conclude on Sunday the 20th.
This year, the tournament will feature nine different teams across the East Coast in player-to-player matchups instead of team matchups. The teams featured are Villanova, Delaware, St. Joseph’s, Temple, NJIT, Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, VCU and Cornell.
The invitational is unique this year as the event will take place across three different campuses in the greater Philadelphia area. One part of the action will take place at the University of Delaware’s campus at 621 S College Ave. Another will take place at St. Joseph’s campus at 470 N Latches Ln. The final site will be at Temple, with the address 1500 W. Norris St.
As for Villanova specifically, the team will open the action on Friday at the Temple portion of the event. The ‘Cats will take on a variety of players from the Temple Tennis team and the Syracuse Tennis team. The action will begin at 1:15 p.m.
On Saturday, Villanova will head to St. Joseph’s campus for a matchup between players from both Johns Hopkins and Cornell. The action of Saturday is slated to begin at 1:45 p.m.
The final action on Sunday will see the Wildcats continue their play on St. Joseph’s campus at 1:45 p.m.. The team will compete against members of the NJIT and St. Joseph’s Tennis teams.
