Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $155 million rookie-scale extension, as first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal is fully guaranteed.

With the agreement, Ausar and Amen became the first pair of brothers in NBA history to each receive a contract worth at least $100 million. Their new deals are worth a combined $363 million.

Amen agreed to a five-year, $208 million extension with the Houston Rockets earlier this month.

The twins entered the NBA together in 2023, when Houston selected Amen with the No. 4 pick, and Detroit took Ausar immediately afterward at No. 5.

Both twins have emerged as elite defenders

Ausar earned All-Defensive First Team honors last season after averaging 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and a league-leading 2.0 steals per game. He also finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

He continued that impact in the postseason, averaging 2.0 steals and 1.8 blocks across 14 playoff games and became the first player since Anthony Davis in 2020 to record at least 25 steals and 25 blocks in one postseason run.

Amen has built a similar reputation in Houston. He made the All-Defensive First Team in 2024-25 before posting career highs of 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 steals last season.
