Clark is having one of the most prolific scoring seasons for a point guard in WNBA history, averaging 22.7 points and 8.4 assists for the playoff-bound Fever.
Clark is establishing her name alongside the all-time greats of the WNBA after accomplishing an incredible feat, surpassing all prior point guards the league has ever seen.
Caitlin Clark is the new all-time leader for most points scored in a season by a point guard
Clark’s 25 points in the Fever’s loss to the Washington Mystics on September 20 means she had scored 862 points over the 2026 WNBA season.
This set the new all-time record for most points scored by a point guard in a season, surpassing Diana Taurasi’s 860-point total from the 2006 WNBA season.
Taurasi played 34 games while Clark took 38 games to achieve this feat, so Taurasi edges Clark out in terms of points-per-game average, but Clark is the new totals leader.

There are still two games left for Clark to play where she can further her advantage, potentially becoming the first point guard to score over 900 points in a WNBA season.
Taurasi also ranks third for most points by a point guard in a single season with 820 points in the 2008 campaign.
Clark ranks fourth with her rookie season in 2024, when she scored 769 points in 40 appearances.

This record will likely be broken a few more times by Clark or other high-volume guard scorers like Paige Bueckers as the WNBA continues expanding every season, increasing the number of total games as well.
Clark ranks third amongst all leading scorers this season in the WNBA, ranking behind reigning MVP A’ja Wilson and Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell.
However, factoring in Clark’s 8.4 assists per game, she is unquestionably the most impactful offensive creator in the WNBA right now.
