Despite entering the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in 11th place at 8 over par, Georgia women’s golf struggled mightily down the stretch on Monday, finishing the tournament at 23 over par and dropping to 13th in the field of 16 teams.

But the Bulldogs were not without strong individual performances. Sydney Givens and Ashley Shaw each finished in the top 40 with solid scorecards of 1 over par and 3 over par, respectively.

Givens, the tournament’s co-defending individual champion, posted impressive rounds of 67 and 69 during the first two rounds on the par-70 course. She ended the tournament with a 75 and a three-day score of 1 over, which tied for 33rd place, making her the highest Bulldog on the leaderboard.

Givens also delivered six birdies in her first round and 11 total for Georgia.

Shaw, who reclassified from the Class of 2027 to join the Bulldogs this fall, continued a steady start to her collegiate career with rounds of 72, 71 and 70.

Gabriella Albert followed for Georgia with a total of 10 over, and Karoline Tuttle and Isabel Emanuels each finished with 12-over scores.

The Bulldogs competed against a talented field, as Iowa State won with a whopping 30-under finish. Tournament hosts Oklahoma came in second at 13 under.

The result marks Georgia’s second consecutive finish in the bottom four of the team standings after the Bulldogs placed 17th at the season-opening Cougar Classic in South Carolina.

Georgia next returns to action Oct. 9 when the Bulldogs travel to Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia to compete in the Evie Odom Invitational.
