MONROE, N.Y. — Monroe-Woodbury High’s golf team won the battle of unbeatens in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division 1 with a 20-stroke victory over visiting Kingston at the Golf Club at Mansion Ridge on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The host Crusaders improved to 2-0 in the OCIAA and 6-1 overall with a 222-242 win over the Tigers (1-1 OCIAA, 4-2 overall).
Andre Miller (40) and Austin Hand (45) were the only Tigers to break 50 on the Jack Nicklaus-designed layout.
Other Kingston counting scores were Aiden Torres (51), Jameson Beesmer (53) and Isaac Miller (53).
Kingston will next face Pine Bush in another divisional match at the Town of Wallkill Golf Club on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Highland 167, Rondout Valley 169
At Highland, the host Huskies scored a two-stroke Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) win at the Apple Greens Golf Course.
Top golfers for Highland (3-1 MHAL, 4-2 overall) were Jack Coleman (39) and Austin Reid (40).
For Rondout Valley (3-1, 4-3), low scorers were Hokai Liu (37) and Stevie Schwartz (38).
New Paltz 161, Marlboro 168
At Highland, New Paltz improved to 4-2 with the victory at Apple Greens. Gus DiSciullo was medalist with a 35 for New Paltz.
Spencer Blessing was low for Marlboro (1-4) with a 40.
Onteora 183, Webutuck 206
At Copake, the visiting Eagles (3-2) were led by Jacob D’Arcy’s 39 at the Undermountain Golf Course.
Webutuck dropped to 0-6.
