WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Boys Frontier League soccer and girls NAC volleyball topped the local sports menu Wednesday.
Carthage 2, Indian River 0
The Comets hosted the Indian River Wolves in a boys Frontier League soccer contest.
Midway through the first half, Carthage took the lead when Elek Nyitray got a foot on a direct kick and put it top shelf, making it 1-0.
A bit later, Bartek Myszor unloaded a shot that went under the crossbar, making it 2-0 Carthage at the half.
Carthage went on to beat Indian River 2-0.
Copenhagen 7, IHC 0
IHC hosted Copenhagen in another boys Frontier League soccer contest.
Early in the first half, Bryce Spaulding made moves in the box and scored far corner, making it 1-0 Copenhagen.
A little over a minute later, Spaulding got behind the defense and scored his second goal of the game, making it 2-0 Golden Knights.
Spaulding completed a hat trick with a header, making it 3-0.
Copenhagen went on to blank IHC 7-0.
Chateaugay sweeps Clifton-Fine in NAC volleyball
Chateaugay swept Clifton-Fine 3-0 in NAC volleyball.
Chateaugay surged late in the first set for a 25-18 win. The Bulldogs dominated the second set 25-16. Chateaugay battled into extra play in the third set, edging the Eagles 26-24 for the sweep.
For Chateaugay, Torie Patterson had 5 points, 3 aces and 28 assists. Vanessa Titus had 9 points, 3 aces and 18 kills. Jaedyn Yelle had 7 points, 1 ace, 7 kills and 3 blocks.
For Clifton-Fine, Jolee Verne had 18 digs and two assists. Harper Davis had 9 kills. Alyvia Huckle had 6 kills and 8 digs.
