The award was given at the 2026 FAW and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards, recognising the restaurant’s partnership work with the Flintshire Sport Development Team and the FAW Development team.
The Flint branch, operated by franchisee Victoria O’Connor, has supported the FAW’s Alternative Provision programme by offering work placements and traineeships to young people.
Victoria O’Connor, franchisee of McDonald’s Flint, said: “We’re so proud to be recognised as Football Restaurant of the Year.
“It’s been fantastic to work together to create new opportunities for young people in our community, whether that’s through work placements, traineeships, or using sport to bring people together.
“We’re looking forward to continuing to build on the partnership and finding new ways to support young people across Flint.”
Through the programme, young people have gained practical workplace experience, improved employability skills, and built confidence.
The partnership has also seen the Sports Development Team deliver engagement sessions in the restaurant’s car park, using sport and physical activity to connect with young people in the community.
These sessions provided a platform for young people to share their views on current activities and help shape future opportunities in Flint.
The partnership is set to continue, with all parties committed to improving outcomes for young people across the area.
