Samantha Busch has opened up about her family’s grief journey four months after the sudden death of her husband, Kyle Busch.
In a series of Instagram Stories on Tuesday, September 29, Samantha, 40, answered questions from her followers, including one about how her son, Brexton, 11, and daughter, Lennix, 4, are holding up.
“They are doing pretty good all things considered. I’ve tried really hard to keep routine and normalcy and happiness for them,” the lifestyle blogger wrote over a picture of her kids.
“We all talk about Kyle all the time and have pictures everywhere,” she added. “There are certain times for both that it’s apparent they are hurting more for him so I just try to reassure them of how much Dad loves them, how proud he would be of them and that they were his greatest joys in life.”
Kyle died on May 21 at age 41 after contracting severe pneumonia, which rapidly progressed to sepsis, per NASCAR.
Brexton is now following in his dad’s tracks — he has won multiple car and dirt kart races in junior divisions, including one just two months after his dad’s death.
On her Instagram Stories, Samantha, who has openly discussed her IVF journey — which involved multiple miscarriages, per the Kyle and Samantha Busch Bundle of Joy Fund website — also answered a question about whether it is a comfort to know that Kyle is with her lost children.
“Someone who wasn’t familiar with our fertility journey actually told me a few weeks ago that they had a very vivid dream that they saw Kyle snuggled up with a little girl and they were so content and at peace,” Samantha responded, sharing a photo of her late husband and their daughter napping together on a couch.
“It made me think of this picture when she told me and how much Kyle and Lennie loved to snuggle,” she added. “I truly wish I could have this peace of having a dream like that but I have felt Kyle’s presence in other ways. I choose to trust he and our babies are in heaven with Jesus perfectly happy. It’s here on earth that we have the sadness and pain.”
