EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team grabbed a nail-biting victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action against Edinboro, 2-1, after Bailey McGee secured a brace on her game-winning goal with six seconds left Wednesday at Sox Harrison Stadium.

With the win, Slippery Rock retained sole possession of first place in the PSAC West standings and improved to 8-2-1 overall with a 7-1-1 mark inside the division, while Edinboro’s overall record dropped to 4-6-1 and 4-5-0 in the PSAC West.

McGee’s brace was the second of her career as the senior was the lone goal scorer for The Rock. McGee’s first career brace was a part of a six-point game (2 G, 2 A) against the Fighting Scots in 2024.

Leah Allman started in goal for Slippery Rock and made a season-high eight saves. As The Rock came away victorious, Allman became Slippery Rock’s all-time leader in wins with 41. The senior surpassed Dana O’Neill (2009-13) for the most victories as a Slippery Rock goalkeeper.

McGee and Jilly Deivert led SRU with five shots apiece, while Sophia Palermo (3), Lillian Snyder (3) and Bella Gianfrancesco (2) all took multiple shots for SRU.

Eden Williams, Jordyn Constable and Abby Paterline rounded out Slippery Rock’s shot takers with one shot each.

Edinboro jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute as Jada Cole scored her third goal of the season off an assist from Hailey Marchlewski.

Slippery Rock found an equalizer 10 minutes later as McGee put home her first goal of the game, tying the game, 1-1.

The next 59 minutes of the game featured no scoring as it looked like the two teams would settle for a draw, but with six seconds remaining, McGee was on the receiving end of a scrum for the ball and sent the game-winner into the bottom left corner, sealing a 2-1 victory for The Rock.

Slippery Rock ended the game with advantages in shots (21-9), shots on goal (10-7) and corner kicks (5-3).

Slippery Rock has a week before its next game was it stays on the road for a PSAC West matchup against Clarion 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Memorial Stadium.
