The Ripon High School girls’ tennis team nearly got swept in a home dual against the New London Bulldogs, losing 6-1 last Tuesday.
The lone win for Ripon came from the No. 1 singles match, where junior Millie Gales defeated New London junior Pippa Zaug 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.
There was little fight from the Tigers for the rest of their singles matches, with No. 2 sophomore Lillith Adamski falling 6-1, 6-1. From there, No. 3 junior Mia Timmons lost 6-3, 6-0, and No. 4 senior Ashna Kauffeld also lost 6-0, 6-3.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of seniors, Storm Kosinski and Ava Nitz, lost to a team of fellow seniors from New London, 6-0, 6-1.

In the No. 2 slot, Ripon’s last senior, Wren Steiner, and her partner, junior Autumn Manor, were defeated 6-4, 6-1.
The No. 3 doubles match with fresh men duo Reece Osheim and Myla Rahn put up some fight against their Bulldogs opponents, but ultimately fell 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 to close out the day for the varsity team.

This week, the tennis team headed out for an away contest against Winnebago Lutheran Academy on Tuesday that finished after press time.

From there, Ripon will face New London again at home Thursday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. before heading to subsectionals at the Ogden YMCA and Valley Tennis Center in Neenah on Monday, Oct. 5.
