SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Vikings fell to UMary, 3-1, on Friday at Morstad Field. The Vikings held a 14-6 shot advantage and took 10 corner kicks to the Marauders’ one, but finished with one goal.

Laina Souerdyke put an early shot on frame for the Vikings in the 1st minute, but the Marauders went ahead 1-0 on an own goal at 3 minutes. The Vikings pushed for a tying goal with corner kicks at the 9th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd minutes, while Nyla Tharp and Addie Fawcett each forced saves from Kadyn Dilger during that stretch. The Marauders added to their lead at 29 minutes when Bella Kozlowski scored to make it 2-0. The Vikings generated late looks from Reese Bleeker and Reese Geiger, with Geiger’s shot saved at the 42nd minute, and the Marauders carried the 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Marauders scored early in the second half when Dina Polanco finished a Chloe Brand assist in the 46th minute to make it 3-0, and the Vikings answered with a Souerdyke shot 21 seconds later plus corner kicks in the 47th minute and 52nd minute. Leah Gschwendtner forced a save at 56 minutes and sent another attempt left at the 60th minute before Reardon stopped Mia Strecha’s shot in the 63rd minute. The Vikings kept pressing through set pieces and shots before White scored in the 79th minute, assisted by Avery Heinz, to cut the score to 3-1. Reardon added a late save on Polanco during the 87th minute, and the match ended in favor of the Marauders, 3-1.
