Welcome back, race fans. After four races in the 2026 Chase, the question is quickly becoming, “Can anyone stop Kyle Larson?” He picked up his second win of the Playoffs last week at Kansas and has opened up a 26-point lead over regular-season champ Denny Hamlin and a 50-point lead over Christopher Bell in third.
This week the Cup Series heads back to Sin City for the South Point 400 this Sunday. In this article, we will preview the track, look at some trends and stats that matter here, and then dig into some early targets for DFS heading into the weekend. Let’s get started.

NASCAR DFS: South Point 400
Track Preview & Fantasy Angle
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile D-shaped oval track with 20 degrees of banking in the turns. This marks the 10th trip to the track in the NextGen era and has produced three drivers who have won here twice during that stretch. From a starting position standpoint, it has been eight straight races here where the winner has come from a Top 10 starting position, and five of those races we have seen the winner come from a front-row starting position.
When looking at the fantasy angle, the first thing that stands out here is the dominator narrative. Six of the last seven races at Vegas have seen one driver lead over 100 laps, and that has correlated heavily with results as well, as all six of those drivers finished 1st or 2nd in that particular race. Compared to other intermediate tracks in the database, Vegas is right up there in quality passes per lap but comes in last of the six tracks in double-digit place-differential upside. All nine races here in the NextGen era have produced under 10 drivers reaching that threshold, and three times there have been under five drivers to reach it.
Overall, I will be looking for track position and practice speeds to key in on two to three drivers who could be the top dominator and potential winner of the race. Like most playoff races, we will want to get as many Chase participants in our lineups as possible and that will lead to a stars and scrubs build. For the value drivers, a combination of practice vs. starting position, place differential upside, and track history will be my focus. With all that said, let’s dive into the picks!
Top Pre-Qualifying Targets for DraftKings
Kyle Larson ($11,500)
There is a likely scenario where you can stack Larson and Denny in this race, but if choosing just one, I just can’t get away from the momentum the #5 team has built so far in the Chase. He not only has two wins but is the only driver to finish all four races inside the Top 5 and has more than double the number of laps led (459) than any other driver. Sure, Denny has won the last two races here, but Larson also won back-to-back at Vegas in 2023 and 2024 and leads all drivers with five Top 5 finishes in the nine NextGen era races.
Christopher Bell ($10,700)
My favorite stack with Larson at this point of the week is actually Hamlin’s teammate, Christopher Bell. While he doesn’t have a win here at Vegas in his career, he has tallied a whopping five top-5 finishes in his last seven trips and is 2nd behind Larson in average finish here since the start of last season. Bell has also had a better start to the 2026 Chase as one of only three other drivers outside Larson with multiple top-5 finishes through four races.
William Byron ($9,200)
Byron has been somewhat of an afterthought for some this season as he is the only driver in the Top 11 of salary that has yet to win in 2026. That could change soon as he has been building momentum with three straight Top 10 finishes in the Chase after an opening DNF at Darlington. More good news for the #24 team as they head back to Vegas, where they have been excellent with Top 5 finishes in three of their last four trips, a win in the spring race in 2023, and sit tied with Larson with five Top 5s and seven Top 10s in the nine NextGen era races.
Ryan Preece ($6,700)
No driver has made more of my articles this Chase Playoff run than Ryan Preece. He sits down in 14th in the standings, but for DFS he has been a very consistent option. He enters this weekend with Top 10 finishes in back-to-back races and is one of just seven drivers with three Top 10s through four playoff races. Like I mentioned last week, he has been consistent on mile-and-a-half intermediate tracks and especially here at Vegas recently, where he has finished 11th or better in three straight, including a career-high 3rd in the spring race in 2025. Once again, he is my top PTS/$ play heading into the weekend.
