UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley continues to ransack some of college basketball’s most storied powers with the commitment of 6-foot-5, five-star prospect Jordan Page on Sunday.
After a legendary comeback against Duke in the Elite Eight, UConn twisted the knife by snagging Blue Devils freshman Nik Khamenia out of the transfer portal. Now, Hurley’s beaten early favorite and local juggernaut North Carolina in the recruitment of Page, the nation’s No. 10-ranked prospect and third-best small forward, per 247Sports.

Here are five things to know about UConn’s latest commitment:
Same hometown as Silas Demary Jr.
While Demary now has the option to play a fifth season of college basketball under the NCAA’s new eligibility framework, the UConn point guard will hope that he’s landed on an NBA roster by next summer and has passed the torch of Raleigh representation in the Huskies program to Page. Demary grew up in North Carolina’s capital and began his high school career at Millbrook Magnet High School before transferring to the Charlotte area.
Page, meanwhile, starred eight miles south in downtown Raleigh at Broughton Magnet, dropping a 33-point double-double against Demary’s former school to snap a six-game Millbrook winning streak last season. Looking further back, the City of Oaks also produced Rodney Purvis, who averaged nearly 13 points per game in three seasons with the Huskies from 2014 to 2017.

Turned down interest from in-state North Carolina
Hurley faced an uphill climb in convincing Page to leave the Tar Heel State, as the young wing became a major recruiting priority for in-state powerhouse North Carolina. Page made the 25-mile trip out to Chapel Hill two weekends ago, at which point North Carolina stood as a clear front-runner in his recruitment, making an official visit to first-year coach Mike Malone’s program alongside fellow five-star CJ Rossier.
“The culture,” Page said when he announced his commitment. “What he said to me was, hats and rings. Got lottery picks and the rings, they win championships. So I would love to be in a winning culture, for sure.”

Most efficient scorer at U-17 World Cup
Page becomes the second player in the 2027 UConn recruiting class, joining 6-foot-2 guard NaVorro Bowman Jr., and the two five-star prospects have already logged some floor time together as members of Team USA at this summer’s FIBA U-17 World Cup, hosted in Istanbul. Bowman posted the slightly higher scoring average, dropping 83 points across seven games, but Page was far more efficient — his 69.7% field goal shooting was the highest among the tournament’s top-50 scorers.

Stepping up on the biggest stage, Page delivered arguably his best performance of the World Cup in the final against Serbia, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while converting all three free-throw attempts in a runaway 107-81 victory for the Americans. Page was perhaps aided by previous international experience, also winning a gold medal for Team USA at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup in Mexico.

Jordan Page AAU statistics breakdown
Representing his hometown Garner Road AAU squad on the national adidas 3Stripes Select Basketball circuit this summer, Page emerged as one of the league’s top performers, earning second-team All-3SSB honors at season’s end. He led his team in points (16.3) and rebounds (6.2), while also emerging as one of Garner Road’s top passers with nearly three assists per game.
These playmaking endeavors certainly came with some risk, as Page will look to clean up his 2.1-turnover average. Page also needs to add a more reliable 3-point shot as he transitions to the college game, shooting at just a 24.4% clip from long range on around 2.5 attempts per game.

Will play senior season at IMG Academy
If all goes according to plan, Page will be making his debut for the Huskies in around one year’s time. In the interim, the five-star phenom will develop at one of the nation’s premier sports factories, announcing his commitment to the Florida school on Instagram earlier this summer, which drew a response from Andre Drummond.
