The Corvallis, Hamilton, and Stevensville golf teams made the long trek to Shelby on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3, to compete in the 2026 Class A state golf tournament at the Marias Valley Golf and Country Club.
Hamilton senior Cameron Burnett won the 2026 Class A state girls golf individual title. Burnett shot a 79 in the first round on Friday, and trailed the leader by one stroke. On Saturday, Burnett caught fire in her second round and scorched the field, shooting a three-under-par 69. Her two-day total of 148 (+4) was ten strokes better than second place. Burnett’s second round 69 included five birdies, two bogeys, and pars on the rest of the holes.
“Not too many people shoot a 69 in their last round of their high school careers,” said Owen Burch, Hamilton’s head golf coach. “I’m very proud of her mentality. She really strived this year to improve her mental toughness, so for her to shoot the lowest round in her high school career in the second round at state is pretty impressive.”
