The Philadelphia Flyers announced they have signed forward Michael Bunting to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season worth an average annual value (AAV) of $1.2M, according to General Manager Daniel Briere.
Bunting, 31 (9/17/1995), was originally selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. He has appeared in parts of seven NHL seasons (2018-26), recording 252 points (109g-143a), including 36 power-play goals and 12 game-winning goals, in 418 career games. Bunting has also appeared in 14 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, including 13 with the Toronto Maple Leafs and one with the Dallas Stars last season, recording six total points (1g-5a).
During the 2025-26 season, the Scarborough, Ontario native began the season with the Nashville Predators before being traded to the Dallas Stars. He appeared in 74 games between the two clubs, recording 33 points (14g-19a). His best career season was his rookie year in 2021-22 when he registered 63 points (23g-40a) with the Toronto Maple Leafs and was named a finalist for the Calder Trophy.
Bunting has also spent parts of six seasons in the American Hockey League with the Tucson Roadrunners (2016-21) and Springfield Falcons (2015-16), appearing in 323 games and recording 205 points (85g-120a). He also collected four points (3g-1a) in nine Calder Cup Playoff games.
