SANTA CLARA – Kyle Juszczyk’s customary “juice drinking” celebration, upon the NFL’s further review, is just fine, as in OK, as if it’s OJ.

Juszczyk, the 49ers’ perennial Pro Bowl fullback, won last week’s appeal of a $14,926 fine levied by the NFL for “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Wednesday morning.

“#FreeJuice” Juszczyk replied to Schefter’s social media post on X.

The NFL opted the fine wasn’t worth the squeeze, “because his celebration was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer,” Schefter said in of the NFL’s stated rationale. “… Mr. Juszczyk finally stated that the fine is hypocritical with the amount of Bud Light sponsorships surrounding the NFL.”

Juszczyk actually got fined that amount twice for celebration after two receptions – including a 6-yard touchdown catch – in the 49ers’ home-opening win over the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 20. It is not immediately known if both fines were quashed. Another fine, imposed for illegal use of his helmet on a Week 1 play, got reduced from $20,003 to about $16,000, ESPN’s Ian Rapoport said.

“I don’t know how else to say it: I wasn’t drinking beer in my celebration,” Juszczyk said at his locker after last Thursday’s practice. “You guys all know my nickname is, ‘Juice.’ I have ‘Juice’ on my pads. The stadium yells ‘Juice’ when I catch the ball. When I celebrate, I celebrate by drinking juice, and it’s been that way for years.”

Juszczyk revived that celebration after making a catch in Sunday’s 24-14 win over the Denver Broncos. He left that game once he got hit in his right knee on another reception. An MRI revealed he sustained a hyperextended knee and bone bruise, which will likely keep him out the next few games.

The 49ers (3-0) play Sunday at the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (3-1). He has played in every 49ers-Seahawks game since joining the 49ers in 2017.

Juszczyk and his wife, Kristin, posted a social media video of them silently squeezing oranges in their kitchen in protest of the fine.

While Juszczyk was one of several players fined around the league for Week 2 celebrations, 49ers linebackers Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw are facing their own fines. Warner was docked nearly $42,000 last week for a pair of unnecessary roughness (use of helmet; hip-drop tackle) against the Cardinals, then Greenlaw reportedly got fined $11,941 for taunting the Denver Broncos sideline last Sunday, when he screamed at coach Sean Payton after making a third-quarter tackle.
