PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A six-acre vacant property in Peachtree Corners will soon be transformed into a new recreational destination with a pitch-and-putt golf course.
The Peachtree Corners City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request for the course at 7067 Jimmy Carter Boulevard. The property is located behind the Crown Sports Bar.
Unlike a traditional 18-hole golf course, a pitch-and-putt course is smaller and focuses on shorter shots, including pitches, chips and putts. The format can be accessible to golfers of different skill levels and give beginners an opportunity to learn the game without the time commitment of a full-size course.
Jonathon Calhoun, founder of the project, said the location along Jimmy Carter Boulevard has struggled and he hopes the development will help revitalize the area.
“What’s really unique about that site specifically is that Jimmy Carter has always been kind of a struggling location and it needs kind of a reboot,” Calhoun said. “We hope to be kind of a positive light for that area and really drive a lot of transformation.”
Peachtree Corners Community Development Director Shaun Adams said the project could introduce more adults and children to golf while also serving people who work nearby.
“It’s a great opportunity to expose adults and children alike to the game of golf without the barrier to entry that you typically have with a normal golf course,” Adams said.
Adams said the course’s proximity to the city’s technology park could also make it convenient for people to play a quick nine holes during a lunch break.
The project will transform the vacant property into a recreational destination in Peachtree Corners, and the project’s proponents hope to have phase one complete in spring 2027.
