South Alabama broke out to a 31-14 halftime lead on Saturday and held off visiting UL Monroe for a 52-35 win as Jared Hollins torched the Warhawks for 321 yards and three touchdowns on 14 of 19 passing. Anthony Eager hauled in four catches for 168 yards and two scores while Trae’von Dunbar ran for 91 yards and a TD as the Jaguars piled up 570 yards of total offense.

Arkansas State took a 20-17 lead at Louisiana when Solomon Baggett scored on a six-yard run early in the fourth quarter but the Red Wolves surrendered two field goals in the final 5:38, including a 37-yarder at the gun in a 23-20 loss on Saturday. Trey Owens finished 20-of-31 for 206 yards and a touchdown, a 21-yard connection with Jaylen Bonelli that put Arkansas State up 10-7 with 31 seconds left in the first half.

The Red Wolves won the last two matchups with the Jaguars to take an 8-6 lead in the all-time series, including a 15-14 win at South Alabama on Oct. 14 last season.

Hollins took over for injured Bishop Davenport two games into the season and retained the QB1 role last week and has thrown for 779 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions in four appearances. Eager comes in with 11 receptions for 305 yards and four scores and PJ Martin tops the running game with 328 yards and five TDs. Owens enters play with 1,043 passing yards and five touchdowns to go with four picks. Chauncey Cobb leads the receivers with 25 catches while Hunter Summers has 263 yards on 20 receptions. Baggett tops the run game with 211 yards and two scores.
