Christian Dvorak scored for the Flyers (0-5-2), who lost their seventh straight game to open the season, a franchise record. Joseph Woll made 26 saves.

Philadelphia was coming off a 5-1 loss at the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

“We know we’ve got to turn it around ASAP,” Dvorak said. “Got to try not to let it snowball here and focus on the next one. We showed at times tonight what we can do, just got to be consistent with it.”

Carolina’s top line of Aho, Svechnikov and Carrier had a hand in the Hurricanes’ three second-period goals, all of which came in a span of 6:38.

It’s a line that was put together early in the season while Seth Jarvis is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

“Quality people, No. 1, and players,” Brind’Amour said. “They all have a little different skill sets, but Will especially, he just does it right all the time, and he’s hard to play against. You put that together with you know ‘Svech’ and obviously ‘Fishy’ (Aho) has got a high skill level.”

Svechnikov gave Carolina a 1-0 lead at 10:16 of the second period when he scored in transition from the left face-off circle.

Gostisbehere was the beneficiary of that line’s strong play to put the Hurricanes ahead 2-0 at 13:45. Carrier carried the puck into the Flyers zone on the right side, pulled up and found Aho driving through the slot. Aho passed between the skates of Flyers defenseman Oliver Bonk across to Gostisbehere, who scored from the bottom of the left face-off circle.

“It’s three unique players on one line,” Gostisbehere said. “Obviously Will’s the physical presence and he’s going to be heavy on the forecheck getting pucks, and even saw tonight he made some really good plays. Obviously Svech is a big shooter, and another guy who’s relentless on the forecheck, and Fish is all world. You saw it on his goal and my goal. That was a freebie for me.”
